Murrelektronik, specialist for decentralised automation technology, joins Maschinenraum, a shared innovation ecosystem from Mittelstand for Mittelstand. There, more than 20 German Mittelstand and family businesses have already formed an "alliance of the willing" to work together on digital transformation and the change of business models as well as the future of work. Murrelektronik will use its membership to exchange ideas on how to deal with challenges in change and talent management, but also in terms of system and solution design.
Murrelektronik develops, produces and distributes state-of-the-art, decentralized automation technology for machines and plants. The family-owned company employs around 3,000 people worldwide and sells its products in more than 50 countries. Systems and components from Murrelektronik are used in a wide variety of industries. In addition, Murrelektronik works together with its customers to develop customised automation solutions that are both innovative and economically optimal.
Impetus for data-based business models
"The exchange with others is critical to Murrelektronik's success. By joining Maschinenraum, we are now taking the next step and seeking to spar and share best practices with other companies and the Maschinenraum team in order to better and more sustainably master the challenges in cultural and digital change," says Markus Nigg, who is responsible for product management at Murrelektronik, among other things.
Customer value is deeply rooted in Murrelektronik's corporate DNA. That is why one of the biggest current efforts is to use and monetise the data generated when using the products for more advanced use cases. "Our goal is to offer the right solutions for our customers and their customers in an increasingly data-based value creation. To this end, we are increasingly developing data-based business models – also through impulses from Maschinenraum – that expand our and our customers' core business," says Paul Zeller, Head of Digital & Strategic Projects at Murrelektronik.
This is also the backdrop for the now launched engagement in the shared innovation ecosystem. "With Maschinenraum, we offer the appropriate environment to develop digital innovations in a network. Murrelektronik exemplifies the core idea of our alliance: only through shared exchange can the innovative power of the individual fully develop," says Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum.
Maschinenraum, a shared innovation ecosystem, unites German Mittelstand companies and family businesses to boldly shape the future. Already more than 20 family businesses –including Viessmann, Fiege Logistik, Dussmann Service and Paracelsus Kliniken – have joined Maschinenraum to jointly drive the digital transformation.
Murrelektronik is an internationally operating family business in automation technology. More than 3,000 specialists in 50 countries work on economical and efficient electrical connections in machines and systems. Murrelektronik connects all electrical assemblies - signals, data and energy - with customised systems.
The holistic approach to solutions increases the competitiveness of customers. This is achieved in particular with decentralisation, which moves the assemblies out of the control cabinet and into the immediate vicinity of the process.
