Podcast "Alles neu...? Aus dem Maschinenraum"
Episode #5: Jens Fiege
It's the great mantra of modern corporate management: Everyone is chasing the new business model, preferably one that completely turns their own industry upside down and washes them forward. Jens Fiege from the traditional company Fiege Logistik also has this dream. But his central insight is: You won't make it alone; you need partners, startups, cooperations. "We've learned that we can't build disruptive business models by ourselves and alone", says Fiege in the podcast "Alles neu...? Aus dem Maschinenraum". That's why the logistics company invests in startups whose pace it appreciates and with whom the speed of change can be absorbed. One problem in logistics: A supply chain is only as innovative as its slowest member. That, too, is an experience Fiege first had to make. You can hear how Jens Fiege drives his employees to innovate, why he only invests as a minority shareholder, and why you have to weather the occasional political storm in turbulent times in the podcast – with Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum, and Capital editor Nils Kreimeier.
Jens Fiege is the fifth generation to run the company Fiege together with his cousin Felix. They are assisted by two board members from outside the family. Jens Fiege holds a degree in business administration and began his career at Bertelsmann Ventures and Lufthansa Technik. He has been a member of the Executive Board since 2009.
