Active Sourcing

What determines success in active sourcing? This Circle Deep Dive was about best practices, learnings and to-dos. After insights from Alexander Schön, Manager HR Marketing & Corporate Recruiting, in an interview with Eva Mettenmeier, Director at Maschinenraum, we went into the discussion. We are thrilled with the openness of our members - all with the goal of learning from each other and moving forward together.

Here are the learnings from the exchange:

  • Active sourcing is a strategy that should be used complementary to other recruiting methods.

  • Candidates are more interested in the direct request of the company than in the request from the headhunter.

  • The whole company needs to recruit, not just the HR department.

  • In close markets and among experts, there is a lot of personal networking - this is both a challenge and an opportunity for the recruiting company.

  • The specialist departments need to be sensitized to the role relationship between the company and the candidate. In active sourcing, candidates are not the supplicants, but want to be won over by the company.

  • Recruiters need a hunter mentality, but the hard skills can be learned.

  • Quick responses to candidate queries and accessibility to departments are essential.

Thanks to all participants for this in-depth, honest and constructive exchange!
