Wuppertal / Berlin
KNIPEX, manufacturer of high-quality pliers and related tools, will from now on drive forward the digital transformation as a member of Maschinenraum together with more than 20 other Mittelstand and family-owned companies. The fourth-generation company from Wuppertal focuses in particular on HR processes such as recruiting and change management.
New perspectives and tools for digitalization
KNIPEX has been working from its founding location in Wuppertal for almost 140 years and supplies its tools to over 100 countries. The special feature: With a vertical range of manufacture of almost 100 percent, production takes place entirely within the Wuppertal company premises. In order to continue to manufacture and sell excellent products, KNIPEX is undergoing an extensive digital transformation process. Because the success of this process is largely determined by the commitment and satisfaction of its employees, the family-owned company wants to break new ground, particularly in the area of human resources.
"Creating optimal conditions for our employees is a particular concern for us as a family business. We are constantly looking for specialists in all fields, from machining technicians to IT system administrators. The modern world of work requires a change of perspective, for example, in order to have an even better view of the needs of potential employees. This is another reason why we are joining Maschinenraum," says Lorena Hahn, personnel officer with a focus on recruiting at KNIPEX. "We want to learn from the experiences of other companies from outside the industry. At the same time, we want to show how successful trainee marketing and employer branding in social media works."
Maschinenraum now serves more than 20 Mittelstand companies as a shared innovation ecosystem within which they can exchange ideas on topics related to digital transformation. In addition to formats in which strategies and solutions in the areas of recruiting, leadership and innovation management are discussed, the environment is also intended to strengthen the innovative power of the individual members and promote cooperation.
"Digital business models can and must change the traditional core business. At KNIPEX, we strive to create new products and services that live up to our brand promise," says Axel van Lil, Chief Digital Architect at KNIPEX. "In order to optimally position ourselves for this and other topics of the future, we want to dare to think outside the box, get involved in Maschinenraum and work with other medium-sized companies on future topics."
"KNIPEX is a world-class tool brand. The company has recognised that the challenges of digital transformation can be solved more sustainably together. With Maschinenraum, we offer the ideal environment to exchange ideas and forge alliances with other companies," says Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum.
Maschinenraum, a shared innovation ecosystem from Mittelstand for Mittelstand, unites German Mittelstand and family businesses to boldly shape the future. More than 20 family businesses – including Viessmann, Fiege Logistik, Dussmann Service and Paracelsus Kliniken – have already joined Maschinenraum to jointly drive the digital transformation of Mittelstand.
KNIPEX has been manufacturing high-quality pliers and related tools for professional use since it was founded in 1882.
