Episode notes

It might be one of the longest prepared company handovers ever: Clara and Laura Sasse took over the management of the Dr. Sasse Group, a pioneer in building services, from their father at the beginning of 2022. And he took them to see customers when they were kids. “I was there at every company event,“ Clara Sasse tells in the podcast “Alles neu…? Aus dem Maschinenraum.“ “We always ran with it.“ When in doubt, the daughters would even open the buffet at a client meeting. From the Sasses' point of view, this long lead time is the optimal prerequisite for leading the nearly 50-year-old company into the future. “The entrepreneur cannot separate his life between private and company,“ says Dr. Eberhard Sasse. And Clara agrees: “You don't keep the private outside - that's part of it.“ For the entrepreneurs, facility management is more than just cleaning and maintenance; they say it's about keeping an eye on the entire property. It also includes collecting data, passing it on to the customer and renewing facilities in a timely manner. For Clara Sasse, all of this is also about sustainability: “It's not just about fixing things that break, but extending the life of the building.“ In addition, owners could save water and maintenance costs through clever use of technology. Clara and Dr. Eberhard Sasse talk in the podcast about the plans of the new management, the question of what a facility manager does in times of home office and the best way to solve a math problem - with Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum and Capital editor Nils Kreimeier.

Clara Sasse

Clara Sasse studied psychology and graduated with a master's degree in organizational psychology from the City University of London. Since January 2017, she has worked for a large international consulting firm in the People Advisory Services department. There she familiarized herself with the topics of project management, digitalization and change management, among others. In October 2018, she became Strategic Assistant to the CEO of EMEIA. Since July 2020, she has been working in the Sasse Group and, in addition to her role in sales, is currently getting up to speed in business management with an MBA in Family Entrepreneurship at Zeppelin University. Since January 2022, she has been responsible for Sales and Marketing as a member of the Sasse Group Management Board.

Dr. Eberhard Sasse

Dr. Eberhard Sasse is the founding entrepreneur of Sasse Group. While still studying law and political science, he founded a commercial cleaning company in Munich in 1976, thus laying the foundation for Sasse Group. Since 1995, the family-run company has been active internationally as a full-service provider of integrated facility services. Today, 6,500 employees ensure the smooth running of secondary processes in the clients' properties. At the end of 2021, Dr. Eberhard Sasse handed over his company to his two daughters Laura and Clara. He himself moved to the Supervisory Board of Sasse Group, where he will continue to support the strategic direction of the company.
