Episode description
Peter Dussmann almost became a bookseller, but then the entrepreneur created a growing group of care services, cleaning companies and facility services providers - with 66,000 employees today. It is a company where people matter most, as Wolf-Dieter Adlhoch, CEO of the Dussmann Group, makes clear in our podcast „Alles Neu…? Aus dem Maschinenraum“. And it is precisely these people – i.e. specialists for services of all kinds – who are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Dussmann is therefore working on sophisticated concepts to counter the shortage and is also relying on software and automation. "We have to use resources more efficiently," says Wolf-Dieter Adlhoch. For example, data on office space can be used to ensure that the entire building is not always cleaned, but only those areas that are currently in use. Or physically strenuous tasks can be supported by robots. "We have built up a lot of technology expertise," a trend that is steadily increasing. Economically, the Group, with annual sales of 2.8 billion euros, is quite capable of doing so, even to expand its business further. For example, services in cyber security or facility management are in the planning stage. Wolf-Dieter Adlhoch talks about what he thinks of the four-day week, how he gets along with the owner family, and what New Work means to him. In the podcast – with Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum and Capital editor Nils Kreimeier.
