Episode Description
Ralf Putsch, managing partner and great-grandson of KNIPEX's founder, began his journey as an executive by keeping a promise he made to his parents: an internship in the family business. In this episode of "Alles Neu...? Aus dem Maschinenraum", Ralf Putsch talks about his original preferred path to university and his entry into the world of KNIPEX, Europe's leading manufacturer of pliers. KNIPEX is a real lovebrand and the pliers, whose production consists of around 40 work steps, are extremely popular with professional and hobby craftsmen. He also talks about how innovation works with a product like pliers and how new ideas are generated: "You have to look at which people have a talent for this, give them appropriate freedom and also give them appropriate resources." At KNIPEX, innovation takes place not only in the product, but also in the manufacturing techniques: "The fact that production is being digitized has actually been a megatrend for many decades." In the interview, Ralf Putsch talks openly about the constant battle against product piracy, how a lovebrand like KNIPEX can come into being, and how much quality is behind the product. In the podcast - with Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum and Capital editor Nils Kreimeier.
