Episode Notes

In the midst of the Corona crisis, the team at car rental company Sixt came up with an idea for a new business model: a car subscription, everything included in the price, cancelable monthly - for anyone who doesn't want to tie themselves down in uncertain times. If you believe Konstantin Sixt, Sixt's Chief Sales Officer, then the project, which took three months to develop, is in some ways typical of the Pullach-based company. In the podcast Alles neu...? Aus dem Maschinenraum, he talks about how car rental and car sharing fit together, why Sixt doesn't need an innovation department, and why it's so important to keep asking customers what they want. It's very important to focus on your core competencies, Sixt says. We're not a car manufacturer, we're a car-placer – as my brother once said. You can hear why Konstantin Sixt likes to quote not only his brother but also his father – and how important software is for his company – in the podcast with Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum, and Capital editor Nils Kreimeier.
