Episode notes

Gunther Wobser is managing partner at Lauda, a company that has risen to become the world market leader in temperature technology and is very successful. Nevertheless, at some point Wobser needed something new. In 2017, he and his family left for Silicon Valley for a year. To get to know something different. There is a tendency in Germany to stick to what exists. Little willingness for the new, says Wobser in the podcast Alles Neu...? Aus dem Maschinenraum. I wanted to escape that. The medium-sized businessman set up an innovation lab, which he then continued in Germany. He learned new methods and gained a different view of his country and its economy. In Silicon Valley, I often pitied Germany, says Wobser – although the advantages of his own economic model also became clearer to him. The entrepreneur talks about start-ups he works with, new company clothes and rituals – and about his own vineyard – in the podcast with Tobias Rappers, managing director of Maschinenraum and Capital editor Nils Kreimeier.

With his focus on innovation and digitalisation, Dr. Gunther Wobser is constantly driving LAUDA's success story. From July 2017, for example, he led the company from Silicon Valley for one year, where he built up the company's own innovation lab new.degree.
