Maschinenraum continues to grow – JUNG becomes part of the innovation ecosystem
Schalksmühle / Berlin
JUNG, a family-owned company based in Sauerland and a provider of modern electrical and building technology, will become part of Maschinenraum. The Maschinenraum alliance of around 35 Mittelstand companies as well as university partners and other innovators is working together on the digital transformation of German Mittelstand. JUNG wants to use the exchange with other members of Maschinenraum to jointly master challenges such as the digital transformation and the associated new requirements for technologies and products as well as the development of new target groups.
Founded in 1912 by Albrecht Jung, the company has grown into an international group of companies today – with around 1,400 employees in 20 subsidiaries and around 70 independent sales and partner organisations on five continents. Today, the company still sees itself entirely in the tradition of its founder – for more than 100 years, they have been guided by their principle of "progress as tradition".
The core competences of the group lie in the control of lighting, blinds, room climate, energy, security, door communication and multimedia – the functional diversity of the JUNG systems covers all areas of modern electrical installation. Technology always meets design in the company, which is why there is a close connection to architects, interior designers and planners.
Products that combine aesthetics and comfort with technical progress
"We are in a strongly growing market, driven by all the issues surrounding energy and an innovative, networked world. On the product level, this means that the desire for a building that thinks for itself is increasing – for example, through smart homes, for which we are developing new technologies and products. But there are also changes among customers, we see a change from craftsmen to end consumers. For us, this means that processes have to be redefined and digitalised. And this is exactly where we rely on the exchange with Maschinenraum and the members – and we also want to give something back and let other companies share in our experiences and learnings," says Stefan Jörgens, Director Research & Development.
This is also the background to the now launched engagement in the shared innovation ecosystem. "Research and innovation are two of the most important pillars of the JUNG company. This is exactly what is needed to be sustainably successful as a family business in the long term. JUNG recognised the need for action in these areas many years ago and can look to the future with confidence. Joining Maschinenraum is a strong signal to our network and other family businesses," sums up Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum.
