Leuchtturm Group joins the Transformation-Ecosystem Maschinenraum
Geesthacht / Berlin
Leuchtturm Gruppe GmbH & Co. KG, a multi-brand company in the area of high-quality consumer goods, becomes a member of the transformation ecosystem Maschinenraum. The company, owned by the Stürken family, believes in the beauty of analog, but is currently also working to digitize many processes. For this and other projects, it can now count on support from the Maschinenraum network.
Maschinenraum, an alliance of over 70 family-owned companies as well as university partners, venture capitalists and other innovators, is working together to transform Germany's small and medium-sized businesses. For the Leuchtturm Group, the holistic approach is particularly promising - the exchange here takes place not only at management level, but is designed to involve all departments and employees.
With the Leuchtturm Group, another experienced company rich in tradition joins Maschinenraum. In 1917, the family-owned company was founded as a publisher of stamp albums. Over the past 106 years, this has been the basis for a brand group specializing in high-quality, aesthetically pleasing products for collecting, giving, writing, sorting and furnishing. Today, around 500 employees work at nine locations for the brands Leuchtturm, Leuchtturm1917, Torquato, Semikolon, Bethge, Treuleben, Legendär and Stilform.
Depending on the brand, the Schleswig-Holstein-based company on the outskirts of Hamburg relies on both its successful retail business and sales via e-commerce marketplaces. The Leuchtturm Group's analog products still appeal to customers in 2023. However, the company is not resting on its laurels: Modernization and transformation measures are currently on the agenda, such as those relating to internal processes and warehouse logistics. At the same time, the company continues to work on expanding its product range and developing appealing designs - in line with its recipe for success over the past 100 years of company history.
Unique products, familiar challenges
"At our company, a membership in Maschinenraum will be a benefit both for the individual employees and for the company as a whole. The opportunity to regularly and confidentially exchange ideas with people who have very similar issues is of great value to everyone," Axel Stürken, Co-CEO of the Leuchtturm Group, is certain. His brother and Co-CEO Max Stürken adds: "Many of our currently important topics, such as the management of our growth, the digitalization of our business processes and the increase in efficiency or the expansion of our logistics, are very suitable for learning from the experiences of others and mirroring decisions."
For Tobias Rappers, co-managing director of the Maschinenraum, the Leuchtturm Group adds to the multi-faceted nature of the network: "With its unique products and yet familiar challenges, the Leuchtturm Group demonstrates the great value of Maschinenraum: 80 percent of the issues, and many of the challenges of family businesses, are identical - no matter what they do for a living. I am very pleased that Leuchtturm Group will be enriching Maschinenraum with immediate effect."
