Maschinenraum cooperates with the Technical University of Darmstadt
Darmstadt/Berlin
Technical University of Darmstadt (TU), one of the leading technical universities in Germany, is becoming a cooperation partner of the transformation ecosystem Maschinenraum. Together with the alliance of about 65 family-owned companies as well as university partners and other innovators, the university is working with immediate effect to connect science and business in Germany even better.
TU Darmstadt was founded in 1877 and thus looks back on a long history. It is one of the leading technical universities in Germany and also has a strong international network. With its findings, it is helping to shape global transformations - from the energy transition to Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence. A total of around 25,000 students study at the university.
For TU Darmstadt, collaborations are an important part of forward-looking work. For example, it also maintains partnerships with the Rhine-Main universities – the Goethe University in Frankfurt and the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz – and together with them continues to develop the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main metropolitan region as a globally attractive scientific area.
Medium-sized company perspective for science
The partnership with Maschinenraum is part of the TU Darmstadt's current "xchange for innovation" strategy for the future. With it, the university is pursuing a science-based, responsible and partner-centric exchange of ideas, knowledge, insights and technologies, both within TU Darmstadt and with the scientific community, as well as with external partners such as Maschinenraum.
"xchange expands traditional knowledge transfer to include a multi-directional exchange at eye level," explains Professor Thomas Walther, Vice President for Innovation and International Affairs at TU Darmstadt. "With Maschinenraum, TU Darmstadt has found an ideal partner to be able to implement its xchange strategy more intensively with medium-sized companies."
Dr. Patrick Honecker, Chief Communication Officer at TU Darmstadt, adds, "The global dynamic changes require flexible instruments of knowledge exchange. This is where two speedboats come together with Maschinenraum and TU Darmstadt."
For Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum, the collaboration has several advantages: "We are very pleased that TU Darmstadt can identify with our values to this extent and is pursuing such an appropriate strategy. Our members will be able to offer valuable insights to the university and at the same time learn a lot from it. University partnerships are also important for us because they train the skilled workers of tomorrow: As part of the cooperation with TU Darmstadt, SMEs can introduce themselves to young professionals and show attractive career paths."
