Sennheiser Group joins the Maschinenraum innovation ecosystem

Wedemark / Berlin

The Sennheiser Group, a global leader in professional audio technology, becomes part of Maschinenraum. The alliance of around 60 medium-sized companies, as well as university partners and other innovators, is working together on the digital transformation of the German SME sector. Together with the other members of Maschinenraum, Sennheiser will exchange ideas in the future on topics of innovation, culture and how to deal with current and future challenges.

The family-owned company Sennheiser was founded in 1945 by Fritz Sennheiser in Wennebostel, Germany, and today it is managed as an independent family business by third-generation co-CEOs Daniel and Dr. Andreas Sennheiser. The group includes the Pro Audio and Business Communications business units, as well as the Neumann brand. In total, Sennheiser has 21 subsidiaries and around 1,800 employees worldwide.

The status quo is not the solution for the future

"We are currently in an exciting phase of re-focusing: After more than 50 years, we are once again concentrating exclusively on our professional business. As a medium-sized company, we are constantly aligning ourselves with new framework conditions and challenges. In this context, we are very much looking forward to exchanging ideas with other companies in Maschinenraum," says Co-CEO Andreas Sennheiser. "With our three business units Pro Audio, Business Communications and Neumann, we want to achieve above-average growth under our own steam and further expand our strong position in the global market," adds Co-CEO Daniel Sennheiser. In particular, the company plans to expand its range of digital workflows and solve the challenges of hybrid working and learning with its audio products in the Business Communications area.

"Quite a few medium-sized and family-owned companies are currently in a phase of (re)finding themselves, always in the area of tension between tradition and the new, fueled by the challenges of our time. The cumulative knowledge of the Maschinenraum members will advance Sennheiser just as much as they will provide new impulses to the other companies. Because the good thing is: we're all in the same boat," says Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of Maschinenraum.
