The HENKELHAUSEN Group joins the Maschinenraum-ecosystem as a new member
Krefeld/Berlin HENKELHAUSEN GmbH & Co. KG, specialist for drive and energy solutions for various industries, becomes part of the Maschinenraum ecosystem. From sales to repair and maintenance to modernization, the family-owned company offers a comprehensive range of services, primarily for diesel engines in construction, rail and agricultural technology as well as the marine and emergency power system sectors.
Maschinenraum, an alliance of more than 70 family-owned companies as well as university partners, venture capitalists and other innovators, is working together to transform Germany's SME sector. As a new member, HENKELHAUSEN would like to exchange ideas with like-minded people on topics such as Industry 4.0, Employer Branding, Leadership & Culture and Sustainability, lay a foundation of knowledge and provide and take away impulses.
The second-generation family business was founded in 1936 by Arthur Henkelhausen. In 1998, Lutz Goebel and the Dutch investor Alpinvest took over the company. In 2003, after Alpinvest's exit, the Goebel family became majority shareholders. Since then, the company's field of activity has steadily expanded and successfully adapted to new customer requirements. Where agricultural machinery used to play the main role, today, in addition to electrical engineering and switchgear construction, the day-to-day business is primarily determined by engines for off-road machinery in construction, rail and agricultural engineering as well as the marine and emergency power system sectors. With the generation change in 2022, Eva Valentina Kempf and Matthias Kellersohn took over the operational business.
In order to meet this comprehensive demand, the company has since merged with Notstromtechnik-Clasen GmbH and Spatz & Heitmüller GmbH & Co. KG to form the Henkelhausen Group. Today, the HENKELHAUSEN Group itself generates sales of 94 million euros and is represented by around 300 employees at seven locations in Germany.
Change becomes an exciting ongoing project
"Maschinenraum is highly exciting for me because not only the management, but above all the next management levels are actively involved in shaping the future," explains Lutz Goebel, Managing Partner of the Henkelhausen Group.
"Most of the challenges a company faces today are universal rather than business-specific. We are excited by the idea of Maschinenraum, which is to learn with and from each other. Not only does it make everyone involved faster, but it also significantly increases the number of good ideas. In this way, the companies involved can move forward and the colleagues involved encourage each other. This pioneering spirit and the trusting, open nature of the collaboration fit perfectly with our values in the family business," adds Matthias Kellersohn, Managing Director of HENKELHAUSEN GmbH & Co. KG.
"HENKELHAUSEN boldly tackles necessary transformations in its own company. At the same time, the company's employees are aware that many challenges can be mastered better and faster through cooperation with other medium-sized companies and institutions. These are the right prerequisites for leveraging further potential as part of Maschinenraum, for instance in terms of the Future of Work or innovation management. Because together we are stronger," says Tobias Rappers, Managing Director of the Maschinenraum.
